Notes & Currents

Writing, formatting, and shaping your notes

Notes come from two places in Inkling: what the AI writes from your transcript, and what you type yourself, either alongside a meeting or on their own in the Notes notepad.

How do I take notes during a meeting?

Just start typing on the meeting page while it records, or after the fact. Anything you write sits in its own My notes box above the AI-written notes, so your shorthand and the AI's write-up never get mixed together or overwritten by each other.

How do I format text in my notes?

Select text and use ⌘B for bold or ⌘I for italic, or right-click for a formatting menu with the same options. This works in editable note blocks on the meeting page, not just the note box.

What are Currents, and how do I use note formats?

Currents is where your note formats live: a gallery of cards, one per format, that control how the AI writes up a transcript. Click a card to see its detail and edit the format itself; the next meeting you run through it uses whatever you changed. Built-in formats cover the common shapes (1:1, client meeting, standup, coaching), and + New lets you describe a format in plain words and have Inkling draft it for you.

How do I group and anchor my Currents?

Assign a current to a group when you create or edit it, and a pill row appears across the top of the gallery for filtering by group. Hover any card and click the anchor icon to pin it: anchored currents sit at the head of the gallery as double-wide featured cards, up to four at a time. Anchor the formats you reach for daily and let the rest live in their groups.

How do I test a note format before I trust it?

Open a format in Current and use Test on past meeting. Pick any past transcript, and Inkling streams a fresh write-up using that format live, so you can see exactly what it produces before you rely on it for a real meeting.

How do I use the Notes notepad?

Notes is its own sidebar item, separate from meetings: a plain notepad for anything that isn't tied to a specific call. Create a note, give it a title, and write. The toolbar covers bold, italic, bullets, highlight, eight text colors, and three sizes, and everything autosaves as you go (watch for the small "Saved" label).

Notes can be organized into groups with the picker at the top-right of the editor, and every note you write here also shows up in the Home feed alongside your meetings.

How do I ask questions about my own notes?

Use Ask your notes, above the notes list. It answers only from what's written in your notes, not your meeting transcripts or anything else in the app, so the answer is always traceable back to something you actually wrote. There's also a "With images" toggle to filter the list down to notes that have an attachment.

How do I add images to a meeting or note?

Use the "Add image" strip on a meeting page or inside a note. Pick a file, and it appears as a thumbnail. Click it to open a lightbox view, or hover and click the ✕ to remove it. See AI & privacy for what the AI can and can't do with an attached image today.
