Why didn't Inkling label my speakers automatically?

Automatic speaker naming only fires when a recording is linked to a calendar event with exactly two attendees. A manual Quick Note, a meeting with three or more people, or one with no calendar match at all stays on generic labels (Speaker 1, Speaker 2) until you bind them yourself in the transcript drawer. That part is by design, not a bug: three-plus-person matching isn't reliable enough yet to guess automatically.

How do I fix a speaker that's labeled wrong?

Open the transcript drawer and rebind the name on that speaker with one click. The two-person auto-naming assumes the first person to speak is you. If a meeting has that backwards, this is the fix.

Why is my recording missing everyone else's audio?

That's almost always the system-audio permission, which macOS lists under Screen Recording even though Inkling only captures audio. Check System Settings → Privacy & Security, make sure Inkling is enabled there, then quit and reopen the app. This permission only takes effect on a fresh launch. My Mac crashed mid-recording. Is the meeting gone?

No. Recordings are written to disk as they happen, so a crash, a force quit, or a dead battery doesn't take the meeting with it. The next time Inkling opens, it finds the interrupted recording, stitches the audio back together, pulls in the transcript it had already made, and saves the meeting, with one toast telling you it did. Recordings with nothing in them are quietly discarded rather than saved as empty stubs.

If a meeting you expected to see recovered still isn't there, check the Home feed first (it may have saved under the calendar event's name), then email us.

Why can't I find a meeting, note, or person?

Start with ⌘K search : it covers meetings, transcripts, and notes together. If it's still not turning up, check Trash in Settings; a deleted item stays there for 30 days before it's really gone.

Why won't Chat or my notes use the image I attached?

That's expected right now: no AI in Inkling reads attached images yet, built-in or connected. The image is stored and viewable in a lightbox, but it isn't passed to any model for analysis. See AI & privacy for why.

What if I merge the wrong people in Manifest?

Merges are confirmed, never silent, but once you confirm one, it's permanent, so take a second to check the names in the merge popup before you click through. If you merge two different people by mistake, email us at the address below and we'll help you sort it out.
